Why We Chose the Name Gánh Xưa
Gánh Xưa was born from a deep desire to preserve the soulful essence of traditional Vietnamese street food since 2019
The name “Gánh” refers to the wooden shoulder pole used by generations of Vietnamese street hawkers — often women — to carry food, love, and culture from village to city, from morning till night.
At Gánh Xưa, we carry more than just food. We carry the memory of our grandmothers’ kitchens, the buzz of street corners in Hanoi or Saigon, and the spirit of community that food brings
